Modern technologies applied biotechnologies
In recirculated system (RAS) for fish breeding, different fish species can be cultivated in totally controlled conditions and in any location. Technology is based on water regeneration in fish breeding system.

RAS has a lot of advantages:

  • The possibility to regulate and control internal environment, suitable for cultivated species;
  • The possibility to decrease the risk of fish diseases appearance, the pathogens of which can be brought from the environment;
  • The possibility to lower an ecological load on external ecosystems;
  • The possibility to place this system in any district irrespective of a source of water supply or a climatic zone.
The temperature mode, salinity, concentration of oxygen in water, ðÍ, and other gidrologo-hydrochemical indicators are easily supervised in RAS and satisfy the necessities of the cultivated fish species on various stages of development, from hard-roe incubation to mature state of the fish. In the simplified variant of recirculated system is presented on fig. 1; Fresh water gets into the system, passes biological refinement at repeated regeneration, for improvement of its quality in fish tanks, thus, only its small part should be replaced.


Rough scheme of recirculation


The recirculation technology in aquaculture is already confirmed and as a whole is adapted by the fish industry. Now it is for growing fry of salmon, eel, sea perch, Black Sea turbot, etc. exotic fish species. Besides, similar installations are used at cultivation of molluscs and crustaceans. The given systems are built worldwide. Capacity of designed systems considerably varies, from producing of several thousand fishes to several millions per year.

Technological scheme on breeding sturgeon species in recirculated system (RAS)


The provided biotechnology for breeding sturgeon fishes in recirculated system (at an adjustable thermal mode with the optimum content of oxygen, because of water oxygenation, and purification from metabolites in biological filters) allows to manage the process of cultivation. It provides reception of fry material of demanded species in set time, fast growth of fish during fattening period and accelerated maturing of breeders. Cultivation of fish in RAS is performed when adding of fresh water is approx. 5-10% per 24-hours of the total volume.

The recirculated system technology means by itself the scheme, consisting of following blocks:
  1. Mechanical cleaning block, removing various solids and suspensions from the water coming from the water source and from the fish tanks;
  2. Biological cleaning (biofilter) block, providing purifying of circulating water from products of fish metabolism, transformation of organic connections in non-toxic, by means of vital functions of aerobic bacteria;
  3. Temperature correction block, providing optimisation of temperature mode for cultivation of fish;
  4. Disinfection block, intended for lowering the level of bacterial contamination, including UV-installations and / or ozonators;
  5. Oxygenation block, providing requirements of all biological processes in oxygen in recirculation system, including breath of the fish and the oxidising processes occurring in the biofilter;
  6. Block of fish cultivation, consisting of fish-breeding reservoirs.

The scheme on breeding sturgeon species in recirculated system of sturgeon complex «Aquatir», Ltd. consist in the following:

  1. Stocking of fish tanks with fry from 10g to 300g once a year.
  2. Temperature mode for cultivation of market fish 19-21 0Ñ.
  3. Hydrochemical mode is supported according to the requirements of the developed norms for cultivation of sturgeon species in recirculated systems. [Kiselev, 1999].
  4. Feeding is carried out in compliance with the technological norms of the feeds manufacturer COPPENS (Netherlands), and also taking into account own developed technique. Feeding updating occurs each 15 days after carrying out of control weighing 10 % from all fish.
  5. Sorting of fish is made in process of revealing its diversiform, approximately once a month.
  6. The density of fish in the tanks for commodity breeding is 70-120 kg/m3.
  7. Density of reproduction brood stock fish is - 20-25 kg/m3.
The operative control over the conditions of cultivation is conducted constantly in an automatic mode, and also two times a day the hydrochemical analysis is carried out (in the morning and in the evening). Once a week ichthyologic-pathological control is performed, once a quarter - biochemical analysis of blood serum of cultivated fish. Sanitary-preventive actions are carried out according to the confirmed schedule of «sanitary-preventive actions».
